Our design approach for Big Red Group focuses on adaptive reuse, preserving the building’s heritage elements while reimagining it for modern workplace needs. Every effort was made to integrate new elements into the space with minimal impact, preserving its heritage and prioritising sustainability.

Key historical features – such as the original exposed timber ceilings, and structural beams have been carefully restored and integrated into the design. Drawing subtle inspiration from the natural elements that define Big Red Group’s brand—earth, water, and air—the design brings a sense of connection to the landscapes where BRG’s experiences take place, creating a fluid and inviting space.

Aligned with Big Red Group’s ethos, the design fosters collaboration, connection, and exploration. The workspace layout encourages interaction and creativity, much like the experiences BRG offers its customers. The material palette, inspired by the Australian landscape, brings warmth and texture, blending the natural world seamlessly with the heritage structure.

Sustainability was a top priority. We incorporated energy-efficient systems and sustainable materials, reflecting a commitment to reducing the building’s environmental impact.

By reinterpreting the building’s history through a modern lens, we’ve created a workplace at 1-5 Hickson Road that embodies the BRG’s adventurous spirit while fostering collaboration, creativity, and innovation. The result is a dynamic environment that reflects Big Red Group’s core values and enhances the employee experience, ensuring the space continues to inspire and support the evolving needs of the team for years to come.
